Project description

The project “СAPACITY BUILDING FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE TO BENEFIT SMALLHOLDER FARMERS IN KYRGYZSTAN” is a partnership project of Pro NGO! e.V. (Cologne, Germany), the Kyrgyz partners Corporate Technologies Center (CTC, Bishkek) and the Community Fund Regional Centre of Development “NUR” from Osh.

It is co-financed by the European Union programme "Non-state Actors in Development". The project started in March 2011, lasts 20 months and will be implemented in Osh, Djalal-Abad, Batken and Naryn, and Chui oblasts of Kyrgyzstan.

The project aims to achieve sustainable human livelihoods by introducing innovative and sustainable approaches for better long run life of smallholder farmers through identification and sharing of best practices.

The project has three main components:

  1. Capacity building of smallholder farmers, private sectors, research/academic institutions, and civil society organisations to increase productivity, promote sustainable development, built local capacity for technology, agricultural research and sustainable development
  2. Capacity building of policy makers/governmental institutions to provide necessary public goods and services, by combating institutional barriers and low public good provisions
  3. Networking/communication and interactions among all stakeholders of the process, by establishing a dialog platform and activate constructive interactions and exchange including international participation and cooperation
